The young giants headed to Wangaratta on Saturday to face the kangaroos at wareena park oval
With a lot of new faces in the team the boys were both nervous and excited, but keen to get the season started.
In a hotly contested 1st quarter the young Giants where applying plenty of pressure, Tyresse Clark and Ed Miechel standouts, but the bigger bodies of the kangaroos where clear to see and by half time the Giants were behind 62-0.
Not giving up the boys continued to work hard through the 3rd quarter, Jasper Defazio, Angus Burston and Ace Manger all playing some excellent footy, giving the team some opportunities to score.
Going into the final quarter without a goal on the board, the boys keep pushing hard and were finally rewarded with a well deserved goal, kicked by Mitch Hyland.
Even though it was a big loss (against a very good team though), there were plenty of positive signs to come out of the game, 1st year players Harley Evans-Spencer, Tyler McGregor, Charlie Dewinne, Jacob Adams, Liam Thivillier-Lefebvre and Max Cullen all showed signs that they will be great players for the Giants in the future.
